Who should obtain the Building Permit?

Application for a building permit can be made by a property owner (or their designated representative), design professional (like an architect, architectural technician, engineer) or contractor. Drawings submitted for a permit application will be returned to the permit applicant and where the applicant is either the design professional or contractor, a signed consent will be required from the project owner. Although the approved drawings are returned to the permit applicant, the building permit will only be released to a license contractor in good standing with the GBPA.
