A vacancy exists at The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited for one (1) Licensing Inspector.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Associate's Degree in Business or related area
• Familiarity with the existing Grand Bahama Port Authority’s Building and Sanitary Codes.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office programmes.
• Good command of the English Language – both written and verbal. • Willingness to pursue Higher education and training.
• Must have a clean professional appearance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform inspections of new and existing proposed business premises relating to:
  • Zoning
  • Suitability of premises
  • Other bye-laws or covenant violations
• Police the activity of existing businesses to operate within the scope of their license.
• Investigate complaints by licensees and of the public regarding commercial ventures.
• Investigate illegal operations.
• Create, maintain, and update database of licensees in the Port Area.
• Create, maintain, and update database of Vendor’s in the Port Area.
• Perform inspections in conjunction with and work closely with the Building and Development Services Department.
• Re-inspect commercial properties subject to enforcement action to determine that corrective action has been completed.
• Work in conjunction with Inspectors from the Building & Development Services Department.
• Write enforcements letters, if required.
• Assume and perform other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and properly inherent to the position and functions of the Department.
