The Down Town Revitalization Program will be launched on 1st April 2009 as ‘Down Town Turn Around'. This revitalization project will make a major impact on the Town Centre, will breathe new life into this once popular native and tourist destination, and will occur in three phases. We intend to conduct a full scale clean-up of the area and introduce new landscaping, signage, benches, lighting and other esthetically pleasing features. Click for more info

Under the theme, ‘Power of Commitment: My Journey from AA to VP', Moxey sought to impact the assistants gathered at the Ruby Swiss restaurant with her personal journey from an Executive Assistant, with administrative responsibilities, to Vice President at GBPA. "I am passionate about the administrative field. It is the foundation upon which all else is built, bringing order, structure and a process to accomplishing some of man's greatest achievements," said Moxey at the outset. Outlining her life story from the age of 8 when she became fatherless, Moxey related how her superior work ethics from that tender age has benefited her professionally, resulting in numerous promotions at GBPA. While sharing some of her own difficult experiences, Moxey encouraged those present to maintain their focus. "I'm trying to illustrate the "Power of Commitment", and what you are capable of achieving if you commit to your tasks...your responsibilities...your goals and perform them with excellence, regardless of the sometimes insurmountable odds that you face."
Drawn from various departments within Health Services, the administrative professionals were eager for the firsthand experience. "We want to gather as much information as we can so as to better ourselves," said Moderator, Kayla Hield-Swain, Trainee Administrative Officer. Sr. Assistant Hospital Administrator, Shawn Mader, echoed the same sentiments as she urged the assistants not to become complacent in their current positions. "You can always go further, this is not where you need to stay," she added. Moxey credited her rise at GBPA to consistent execution of responsibilities, coupled with a passion for incorporating innovation and creativity. "You cannot remain as is...status quo and expect to progress. You also cannot expect to be inconsistent with your level of performance and expect to move forward...It is up to you to be consistent in your commitment to excellence, innovation, and the delivery of your duties," she reminded them.
After listing the hallmarks of a great administrative professional, Moxey challenged her listeners to become ‘excellence seekers'. "Begin to focus and recommit yourselves to your profession, duties and careers," she concluded. The administrative professionals of the Grand Bahama Health Services not only left with encouraging words, but Moxey presented each of them with a personalized gift, courtesy of GBPA. |
